INTERNATIONAL TRADE PRACTICE:
Our lawyers offer services in area of international trade
law and regulation, including export control laws, trade remedy laws and trade
agreements, and customs laws. The firm
represents multinational and regional businesses, including manufacturers,
exporters and importers; associations and other organizations and individuals.
The firm’s global international trade practice will help
clients in matters involving the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection
(USCBP) and including representation before the U.S. Court of International
Trade. Our services include counseling business clients by devising strategies
to reduce or eliminate duty liability through effective planning. We advise on
many aspects of customs law, including product valuation; tariff
classification; marking; and qualifying for preferential trade preference
programs, such as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Caribbean
Basin Initiative (CBI), and Generalized System of Preferences (GSP). The
Agreements provides for the elimination of duties and commercial barriers to
bilateral trade in goods and services originating in the United States
and Jordan.
We help clients with compliance programs to avoid problems with government
agencies that regulate international trade, including the Food and Drug
Administration, Department of Agriculture, Federal Trade Commission, and others.
We routinely help clients respond to detention notices and seizures by USCBP
involving such issues as trademark, copyright, marking and currency violations.
We represent clients in enforcement matters and before the U.S. Court of
International Trade to challenge Customs decisions or actions.
